Professor Bob Woods has been a practicing clinical psychologist working with older people for over 35 years, He initially trained and worked in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Subsequently, he combined extensive clinical work with older people with academic appointments at the Institute of Psychiatry, London and University College London.
Professor Woods has been Professor of Clinical Psychology of Older People at Bangor University since 1996, and head of Bangor’s Institute of Medical & Social Care Research since 2008.
His current research primarily concerns the development and evaluation of therapeutic approaches for people with dementia and their care-givers.
He is co-Director of the Dementia Services Development Centre Wales, and a member of both the Medical and Scientific Advisory Panels of Alzheimer’s Europe and Alzheimer’s Disease International. Professor Woods is also an Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador.
