Primary Care Research Incentive Scheme (PiCRIS)

PiCRIS is a funding scheme established by the Health and Care Research Wales Support Centre. Its purpose is to increase capacity in primary care in Wales to support high-quality research and create a strong primary care research base and culture.

The scheme offers support, mentorship and funding to general practices across Wales (pdf) to provide them with an incentive to make research part of daily routine.

Applications for the 2016/17 scheme have now closed.

 Benefits of participation in PiCRIS:

  • Membership of the network of Health and Care Research Wales Research Practices across Wales
  • Ongoing support from a PiCRIS mentor
  • Free training provided by Health and Care Research Wales
  • Funding to gain Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Research Ready accreditation status
  • Peer support from other Health and Care Research Wales Research Practices
  • Opportunity to develop a new revenue stream through participating in commercial research
  • Level 1, level 2 and level 2 plus practices will also receive a financial award

PiCRIS Affiliate Programme

The affiliate level of the scheme offers all the benefits of PiCRIS, with no requirement to meet activity targets.

As a financial award is not provided at this level, applications can be submitted at any time of the year by completing our online form.
