Nominations are open for the first ever South Wales Argus Health and Care Awards.
The awards have been backed by the Welsh Government’s health secretary Vaughan Gething, who spoke at a launch event at the Royal College of Nursing in Cardiff last week (20 July 2017).
The Cabinet Secretary said the events would allow patients, families and others: “To showcase the excellence that exists, to showcase the commitment that exists, to show the innovation and improvement that exists.”
Health and Care Research Wales is sponsoring the Research Impact award. Director, Professor Jon Bisson, said: “The Health and Care Awards offer a great opportunity to recognise and reward the inspirational work that is taking place across South East Wales. We know that today’s research is tomorrow’s care, which is why we’re proud to sponsor the Research Impact Award.”
Hussain Bayoomi, the managing director of the South Wales Argus, added: “I am delighted to launch the first ever South Wales Argus Health and Care Awards. We are looking forward to some outstanding entries from across the area, as we recognise individuals and teams from the across the whole health spectrum. We hope to have nominations from the general public, public and private organisations and health sector professionals. We will then be celebrating the success of our finalists at the awards event.”
