Health and Care Research Wales is pleased to announce that Professor Paul Morgan has agreed to take on the role of Health and Care Research Wales Mentoring Scheme Lead.
Professor Morgan will bring a wealth of expertise to the role, having played a key role in the Academy of Medical Sciences Mentoring Scheme, sitting on the Academy’s Mentoring Advisory Group and being instrumental in the development of the Health and Care Research Wales Mentoring Scheme.
The pilot phase of this scheme, launching soon, will focus on pairing Senior Research Leaders with Health and Care Research Wales funded students and fellows. Launching initially as a pilot, the Health and Care Research Wales Mentoring Scheme aims to provide developmental mentoring within the Health and Care Research Wales Community. This scheme sits along side provision for aspiring clinical academics to the Academy of Medical Sciences Mentoring Scheme.
As part of an agreement between the Welsh Government and the Academy of Medical Sciences, aspiring clinical academics (including academic clinical fellows, doctoral trainees, clinical lecturer and clinician scientists) in Wales are eligible to access the Academy's mentorship scheme. The Academy's one-to-one mentoring scheme provides postdoctoral biomedical researchers with career development support by pairing them with an Academy Fellow. If you are interested in accessing the mentoring scheme, please see the AMS website to learn about eligibility, the matching process and the support the Academy offers mentors and mentees. http://www.acmedsci.ac.uk/careers/mentoring-and-careers/mentoring-scheme/
