Cross-funder collaborations

Health and Care Research Wales also creates funding opportunities by engaging in cross-funder collaborations with other organisations including the other UK government health departments, research councils and some of the biggest third sector medical research charities.

The UK Prevention Research Partnership (UKPRP) is an exciting £50m initiative focussed on improving population health, and reducing health inequalities, through the primary prevention of NCDs. It covers physical health as well as mental health and wellbeing in the UK.

The Medical Research Council will administer the call for proposals on behalf of funding partners. Further information on the specification of the call and how to apply are available on the MRC website

The EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease (JPND) have launched a call for proposals to improve health and social care research for people affected by neurodegenerative diseases. 20 countries are partnering to provide a total of 21 million euros available and the call has a focus on multidisciplinary and multinational teams. 
 
There is £1.5 million available to UK teams to support 3-6 applications. The funds have been provided by Alzheimer’s Society, Health and Care Research Wales, Motor Neurone Disease Association and NIHR. The call is being co-ordinated by Alzheimer’s Society. 
 
We are looking for ambitious, innovative proposals that address large issues in health and social care such as infrastructure or how things can be improved for individual patients, carers and families. People based at UK universities or NHS trusts are eligible to apply.
