Expenses and payment for time

Reimbursing expenses and payment for time are two ways to make sure that members of the public have an equal opportunity to get involved in research.

When you register your interest in an Involving People Network research opportunity or an event supported by the Public Involvement and Engagement Team, the advert will clearly state who will reimburse expenses and any payment for time, if available.

Payment will either be made through the Team in the Health and Care Research Wales Support Centre or through another organisation e.g. a Health Board or University.

Reimbursement and payment through the Public Involvement and Engagement Team

  • Before the activity
Complete a pre-approval of expenses form before taking part in an activity and send it to the Public Involvement and Engagement Team - research-involvement@wales.nhs.uk
  • After the activity
If payment for time has been agreed, complete a payment for time form. Send this together with a completed expenses form to the Public Involvement and Engagement Team research-involvement@wales.nhs.uk

Full information about the process is available in the 'Expenses and Payment for Time: Guidelines for Members of the Involving People Network', which can be found on our Network member resources page.
