As part of Research Awareness Week leading to International Clinical Trials Day, staff at Velindre's Clinical Trial Unit will be available to answer questions about their work. Join in for a celebration of the fantastic work that is done in clinical trials across Wales.
Research is essential for developing treatments and ultimately improving health care for us and future generations. Clinical trials are one of the last stages of careful research and are a scientifically controlled process for assessing possible new treatments. They are key to proving beyond doubt the effectiveness of new treatments and have to go through four phases, demonstrating each treatment is safe and effective before it is granted a UK drug license and used in a clinical setting.
